Will he, won't he?
Boss has repeatedly mentioned he won't be looking to buy in January but will injuries and recent results make him rethink? He knows it's going to be a tough league to win the 4th time around and with lower ranked teams getting more results and no signs of Arsenal's title push fading, I am not certain he shares this confidence privately. He maybe thinking about injuries at the back, filling in for more goals up front and maybe a left sided winger. From a fan's point of view, I'd like us to buy a striker as I don't see Berbatov giving us 20 goals a season. And to fill in for all those goals for the duration of the season may be a tall ask for the rest of the team. Will it be some surprise like Larsson (think Roque Santa Cruz?) or some spectacular signing (think David Villa), only time will tell. There are possibilities of some departures as well. Nani's departure at some point seems to be a foregone conclusion. It took half the squad to get injured for him to get a game and hasn't really gotten any outing of note for a long while now. That would add to the reasons Fergie should look for a left sided wide player to add to the squad.
Although Nemanja Vidic has come out denying any rift with the boss, Sir Alex's post match "I couldn't tell you - I couldn't tell you" comment doesn't inspire confidence. With reports of Real Madrid being in hot pursuit, I think there is some smoke here. Vidic has been one of the signings of this decade for Fergie so I am sure he'll do all he can to keep him.
Meanwhile Bologna are interested in signing Federico Macheda on loan. Talking about strikers, Fergie has hinted Mame Biram Diouf will play a part this season. He must have really impressed during the training sessions. "He has adapted very well to our training regime and has looked very impressive. He is quick, very good in the air and a good striker of the ball.Overall, he is a really good centre-forward and he will play a part this season" said the boss.
Anyways, it's B'ham next in the league. They've been on a dream run but if there's any team that know how to end these runs, United it is. Fergie would want them to put the Leeds disaster to bed and the only way to do that would be to hammer them like we hammered Wigan.
